At Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on March 8, 2016, Bob Whitside of Simcoe in his 91st year. Husband of the late Barbara (nee VanEvera). Dear father of Christopher Whitside (Verna Chong), Cameron Whitside (Gwen Rose) and Robin Lefler (Mark). Predeceased by his son Kimberley Whitside and survived by his daughter-in-law Freya Whitside. Cherished grandfather of Kai, Benjamin, Chelsea and Tristan and great grandfather of Ayla. Bob is also survived by his sisters Edith Kindy and Diane Hunter. Predeceased by his brother William and his wife Lillien and sister Mary Gilbertson.

In high school during WW2, Bob became Cadet Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets. Eager to get into action, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as an Air Gunner but the war ended before he could serve overseas. Bob was President Simcoe Mitt and Glove and later Ranpro. He sold his interest in the company to employees and retired in 1987. Bob was very active in his community having been a past president of the Rotary Club of Simcoe and Commodore of the Port Dover Yacht Club among many other things. He is noted for being chairman of the Recreation Commission. He was also an accomplished wood-worker. Family and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life at the Norfolk Golf and Country Club on Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
